Earth Day 2002
In recognition of Earth Day and our twentieth anniversary, Orange Environment, Inc. today announced the creation of the Orange County Water Stewards Program. The purpose of this program is to bring about greater public awareness of the major drainage basins of the county as bio-regions uniting wooded uplands, wetland areas, and stream and river corridors. As municipal officials seek to address water shortages, we believe that a sustainable and successful approach to water must integrate into planning and practice an appreciation of the whole cycle of nature involved in channeling water to our aquifers and reservoirs and our surface water systems. Through OCWSP, Orange Environment will employ the citizen’s suit provisions of the Clean Water Act and other laws to stop pollution of our waters. Educational efforts will address non-point water threats and the potential to use sustainable planning approaches to curtail loss of water quality and quantity.
