Toby Schack is a 42-year resident of Orange County and has been actively involved in civic activities since she moved here.  Beginning as a member of the Southern Orange County branch of the League of Women Voters, she ran many candidate’s forums and debates and did research on local water issues. She is also a certified Science teacher and taught Chemistry and Biology, as well as other science subjects, for over 29 years, 25 of those at Peekskill High School. 

Toby joined Orange Environment over 30 years ago and has been an active member and Vice President for most of that time.  Some of her roles as part of OE has been as a representative of the Monroe-Woodbury CAP (Citizens Advisory Panel) overseeing actions at the Nepera Chemical Company, grant writer, organizer for public education programs on citizen action, SEQR training, Earth Day events, and more recently Permaculture and Practice Sustainability Workshops. She also ran many fundraising events and OE’s Awards Dinners and continues to work towards fulfilling OE’s mission of preserving our natural resources and living sustainably.
