Environmental psychologist (Ph.D., Social Psychology, SUNY Buffalo, 1975) who co-founded Orange Environment in 1982 and served as its President until 2019. Under his direction, OE became a major force for protecting the region from environmental hazards while promoting sustainable communities.
An Orange County resident since 1987, Maureen graduated from Ramapo College with a degree in Environmental Studies and built her career at Consolidated Edison Co. of NY, with broad responsibilities in Environment, Health & Safety. As President, she leads OE's board and its work protecting the county's communities.
A 42-year Orange County resident and certified science teacher, Toby is a founding member of the Southern Orange County branch of the League of Women Voters and taught Chemistry and Biology for 29 years, 25 of them at Peekskill High School. As Vice-President, she brings that scientific and civic experience to OE's testimony and community outreach.
Outreach Program Manager for the Center for Building Knowledge at NJIT, Terra helped develop the national Certificate of Proficiency in Benchmarking as part of the U.S. DOE's Consortium for Building Energy Innovation (CBEI). As Treasurer, she manages OE's finances and authors much of the organization's reporting on energy and clean air.
Anne reviews the science behind Orange Environment's campaigns, posts, and testimony so that what we publish is accurate and grounded. As Science Advisor, she is the board's first stop on every environmental-health question we take on.
Simon leads Orange Environment as Executive Director, coordinating the organization's campaigns, community events, and outreach across Orange County. He is affiliated with the CUNY Institute for Sustainable Cities at Hunter College and the Lake Communities Alliance, and works to keep the county's air, water, and open space protected for everyone who lives here.
The youngest voice on the Orange Environment board, Victoria stands up for the next generation of Hudson Valley kids. She cares most about pollinators, clean air, and keeping the region's trails, streams, and gardens healthy for everyone who grows up here.
Maximo has founded and managed nonprofits across NY, NJ, FL, and NM for thirty-five years, focused on sustainable living environments and steering high-risk youth toward legitimate entrepreneurial self-sufficiency. On the OE board, he draws on that experience to strengthen the organization's community programs.
Co-owner and founder of Warwick Valley Winery (1994) and a prominent physician in pulmonology and immunology, 'Doc' is a consulting rosarian deeply passionate about apples, trees, farm-to-table food, horticulture, and the environment. He is a key partner in the Hudson Valley Pollinator Project and brings OE both a physician's view of environmental health and a grower's view of the land.
A physician who joined the OE board to support our mission of environmental health and integrity. In her Cornwall, NY neighborhood, she helped contest the establishment of a proposed mega warehouse, citing environmental health impacts.
Board member since 2000, Peter is a permaculture expert and President of TQM Associates who has traveled to Spain, Sweden, Mexico, Japan, China, Hawaii, and Haiti to study permaculture practices. He advises OE on land care, gardening, and sustainable design.
A seasoned banker specializing in business relationships at M&T Bank, Esteban contributes his financial expertise to OE's sustainable initiatives benefiting the community.
A Cornwall, NY resident with deep nonprofit experience including the Cornwall Conservation Council and CACs, Ted has helped develop local environmental laws and create the Pollinator Pathway Project in the Cornwall region. He extends OE's work into the Cornwall community.
